Destination Highlights

Itsukushima Shrine

Arts & Culture

Located on Miyajima Island in Hiroshima Prefecture, this beautiful shrine seems to float on the sea. The torii gate in the sea is famous, and you can walk out to it during low tide. The contrast between the torii and the setting sun is particularly spectacular.

Peace Memorial Park

Arts & Culture

The Peace Memorial Park was established to convey the tragedy of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, and is where the Peace Memorial Museum and the Atomic Bomb Dome are located. There is also a cenotaph mourning the victims of the bombing, where a memorial service is held on August 6th every year. This is a place to learn about the importance of peace, and express your wishes for a peaceful future.

Onomichi

Arts & Culture

A charming town by the Seto Inland Sea, Onomichi connects the islands of Honshu and Shikoku via the Shimanami Kaido bridge system. Its steep streets and paths often feature in photos and videos, and many tourists visit it.

The four seasons of Hiroshima

Spring

Come spring, visitors can enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms at Hiroshima Castle and the Peace Memorial Park, as well as at Hijiyama Park. The Hiroshima Flower Festival held every May sees the city come alive with parades and colorful flowers.

In winter in Hiroshima, we recommend Onomichi and Kure. In Onomichi, enjoy cafes in old-style townhouses, take in the scenery of this tranquil port town, or gaze out on the beautiful sea at Kure. *The Yamato Museum is scheduled to be closed until March 2026
