Nanzen-ji Temple

ACCESS STEP

  1. JR Kyoto StationJR Kyoto Station

    Make your way to the Biwako Line platform in JR Kyoto Station. Take any train leaving Platform 2 or 3 toward JR Yamashina Station!
    *Some trains depart from Platform 0.

  2. Travel time: About 5 min.

    Get off at JR Yamashina Station.
    Exit the ticket gates and head down the stairs toward Kyoto Municipal Subway Yamashina Station.

  3. On foot: About 5 min.

    At the Yamashina subway station ticket machines, buy a subway ticket and enter the ticket gate. If you have an ICOCA or other IC card, just press it against the reader on the ticket gate!

    Take the train from Platform 1 (toward Uzumasa Tenjingawa Station).
    Trains run roughly once every 8 minutes.

  5. Travel time: About 5 min.

    Turn left after leaving the ticket gate, and go toward Exit 1.

    Turn right after exiting from Exit 1, and walk straight ahead for about 80 m.

  7. On foot: About 10 min.

    Keep walking and you’ll come to a brick tunnel named “Nejirimanpo.”
    Go through this tunnel and go straight for about 400 m until you see the San-mon Gate of Nanzen-ji Temple.
