The most elegant wooden bridge in Japan

Located in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Kintaikyo Bridge is one of Japan’s iconic wooden arch bridges and is loved by tourists from both Japan and abroad. This beautiful bridge was rebuilt in 1674 and maintains its impressive appearance to this day. Kintaikyo Bridge is one of the "Three Famous Bridges" in Japan together with Nihonbashi Bridge in Tokyo’s Chuo Ward and Meganebashi Bridge in Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture.

The elegant appearance of the five wooden arches

The biggest draw of Kintaikyo Bridge is the view of its elegant five arches that span the Nishiki River. The bridge possesses a beauty that seems to almost melt into its natural surroundings, and the exquisite sight of its reflection in the river is particularly moving to visitors. The large Kikko Park is situated nearby, offering visitors the chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery while strolling in natural surroundings.
