Train Information
The Yakumo is a limited express train service run by the West Japan Railway Company (JR-WEST). From Okayama Station, a stop on the Shinkansen line, the service passes through major towns of the Sanin region on the Japan Sea coast, Yonago and Matsue, before reaching Izumo (Izumoshi Station), which has connections to Izumo Taisha, a destination popular among Japanese and foreign travelers alike. The unique bronze exterior of Yakumo trains is inspired by the history and culture of the region. Passenger comfort is a key focus and cars are designed for passengers to “relax like they would at home.” The new Yakumo service serves to whisk travelers on their journey to a place where the nostalgic face of old Japan is still in view.
