WEST QR Kansai Area Pass WEST QR Kansai Area Pass

This pass allows for unlimited rides for 3 days on non-reserved seats on the Limited Express HARUKA and ordinary trains (including Special Rapid trains and Rapid trains) within the free travel section. You can use an ordinary-car reserved seat on the Limited Express HARUKA twice. You cannot use the Shinkansen.
You can reserve a seat within dedicated cars on the HARUKA in advance.

  • * If your desired dedicated car on the Limited Express HARUKA is full, you can use a non-reserved seat. (You cannot use a reserved seat in another car. There will be no refund for the difference in price between a non-reserved seat and a reserved seat.)
  • * The pass cannot be used on the Tokaido Shinkansen between Shin-Osaka and Kyoto or Limited Express trains other than the HARUKA.
  • * A smartphone with an internet connection is required to use the WEST-QR ticket. If you do not have a smartphone, you can display the ticket on the smartphone of a companion.
  • * QR code is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE Incorporated.

  • · Ticket prices and how tickets are reserved/received will change accordingly. We appreciate your understanding.
  • - Adult: 12 or over 12 years old when an exchange order issued or a rail pass purchased
  • - Child: 6-11 years old when an exchange order issued or a rail pass purchased
    • * An Adult's or Child's rail pass holder can accompany up to 2 infants (1-5 years old) for free.
    • * The infants from the third one will require Child's rail passes for each.
    • * Babies aged under 1 year old can be accompanied for free.
    • * Child's rail passes will be required for each infant in the following situations:
      • 1. When accompanied infants use Reserved seats by themselves
      • 2. When infants travel by themselves

Eligibility

Temporary visitor's visa

- A rail pass user must be holding a passport issued by a foreign government.

※外国での永住権を持っているお客様を含め、日本国籍のお客様は使用できません。

- A rail pass user must be entering in Japan as a "短期滞在 (Temporary Visitor) ".

* "短期滞在 (Temporary Visitor) " is a status of residence defined under Japanese immigration law.

- At the ticket gate or on the train, you are required to present your passport when it is requested by station or train staff.

How to Buy & Use WEST QR Pass

Purchasing Exchange Order through a Travel Agency outside Japan
Purchase a WEST-QR ticket voucher from an overseas travel agency.

Access the WEST-QR usage website (listed on the voucher) and register the ticket information on the voucher. On the day that you wish to start using the ticket, press the "Use ticket" button on the WEST-QR usage website to display the QR code for boarding the train.

※ A smartphone with an internet connection is required to use the WEST-QR ticket. If you do not have a smartphone, you can display the ticket on the smartphone of a companion.

※ This pass cannot be purchased at travel agencies in Japan or via JR-WEST ONLINE TRAIN RESERVATION.

Availability and Use

  • · WEST QR Pass is available and usable all year around.
  • · WEST QR Pass is valid for consecutive days.
  • · WEST QR Pass will be valid at 4:00 from the start day to 24:00 on the last day (all times JST).
    However, if the validity period expires while riding a train on the last day, the pass will be valid for the fare until the following day so long as the passenger does not exit the station, and for ticket fees so long as the passenger does not depart the train.

Reserving a Haruka Reserved Seat Ticket

You can use the WEST-QR usage website to reserve reserved seats on the HARUKA from 30 days before the boarding date.
You cannot reserve reserved seats from ticket-vending machines or ticket counters at stations.

Changes

  • · Until you press the "Use ticket" button, you can use the ticket at any time within its usability period. Tickets for which the "Use ticket" button has been pressed and tickets whose usability period has passed cannot be changed.
  • · The number of tickets and number of people cannot be changed. To do so, you will have to receive a refund and purchase the pass again. These operations cannot be performed at JR-West stations, so contact the travel agency where you made your purchase.

Refunds

  • · Refunds cannot be provided after the "Use ticket" button has been pressed.
  • · For refunds before the "Use ticket" button has been pressed, contact the travel agency where you made your purchase. In this situation, there may be a refund fee as determined by the travel agency.
  • · Refunds will not be provided for non-availability of service, train delays, and similar problems.

Related information

  • · The conditions of use for WEST QR Pass are stipulated in JR-West's Conditions of Carriage and by Japanese law.
  • · WEST-QR ticket vouchers before the "Use ticket" button has been pressed are stipulated according to the rules of your contract with the travel agency.
  • · For any discrepancies between foreign language versions and the Japanese version of the Conditions of Carriage, the Japanese version shall prevail.
