RAIL PASS Information

1.Eligibility, Terms of Use

  • The Rail Pass is available to any person holding a passport issued by a country other than Japan and entering Japan with a “short-term stay” resident status.
    *The pass is not available to those entering Japan with a resident status other than “short-term stay” or to Japanese nationals.
  • Always keep your passport with you when riding the train and present it to an attendant if requested.

3.How to Use

Pass through automatic ticket gates using the Rail Pass.
Skip the lines at crowded staffed ticket gates!

Use the Rail Pass at ticket machines to reserve seats.
Avoid crowded station ticket offices and reserve tickets for reserved seating easily from any available ticket machine!

* Please come to a ticket vending machine within the valid touring area.

4.Ticket Usage Start

  • Tickets will be considered “used” when the ticket is first used in an automatic ticket gate.
    For stations without automatic ticket gates, the ticket will be considered “used” when the station staff stamps the ticket.
  • The ticket will be considered “used” when the ticket is used from any station within the valid touring area.
  • If the ticket is used to board a train from a station with no staff, the ticket will be considered “used” upon boarding the train. The station staff will verify your resident status when exiting the ticket gate at the destination station, etc.
    *Tickets will only be considered valid within the Takamatsu area when first used at Takamatsu Station.

  • (1) Tickets must be used by the validity period end date shown on the back of the ticket. If the ticket is not used before this date, the ticket will become invalid.
  • (2) Boarding the train will not be possible using the pass if the eligibility requirements are not met. Passengers that do not meet eligibility requirements will be charged the applicable fare/fee.
