Head temple of the Soto sect founded by Zen monk Dogen, assembling monks entering priesthood from all over the country. It assembles many features worthy of appreciation such as corridors scattered with delicate engravings and painted ceilings.

Access Walk for 5 min. from JR Fukui Sta. to Echizen Railway Fukui Sta. Ride Echizen Railway for 25 min. and get off at Eiheiji-Guchi Sta. Then ride a Keifuku Bus for 15 min. and get off at Eiheijimae bus stop. It's a 5 min. walk from the bus stop to Eiheiji Temple.
