Answer

"Charging" is the act of putting money into a smart card. Up to 20,000 yen can be added to an ICOCA card.

No. It is not possible to purchase or charge an ICOCA card using a credit card.

Answer

ICOCA and Suica can be used for travel on trains and buses in the ten areas nationwide where transport system smart cards are accepted. For areas where ICOCA and Suica can be used in the Kansai region, see the JR-WEST website.

Can I use ICOCA to travel on limited express trains on conventional lines?

Answer

Yes, as long as you purchase a separate limited express ticket and your journey is between stations within the same smart card area.

Can I use ICOCA to travel on the Bullet Train (Shinkansen)?

No. ICOCA cannot be used for the Bullet Train. To use the Bullet Train purchase a separate basic fare ticket and limited express ticket.

No. Unfortunately this is not possible.

Can I view my ICOCA usage history after returning to my home country?

Answer

It is not possible to view your usage history after leaving Japan. To view your usage history, you must insert the ICOCA card into a ticket vending machine.

I think there's something wrong with my ICOCA's magnet. What should I do if I have an ICOCA & HARUKA?

Answer

Complete procedures to have your card re-issued at a station in the JR-WEST ICOCA area. You can receive a new card within 14 days from the day after you have completed the procedures. You will be re-issued with a regular ICOCA card.
