Standard Railway Tickets (One-Way, Round-Trip, Connection)
One-Way Railway Tickets
A railway ticket for traveling from Station A to Station B.
Round-Trip Railway Tickets
A railway ticket for traveling from Station A to Station B and back to Station A using the same route.
Connection Railway Tickets
A Railway Ticket for Travel not covered by a one-way or round-trip ticket; for example, traveling from Station A to Station B, at which the passenger turns back and continues on to Station C.

In general, a valid railway ticket goes on sale starting the day that the ticket will be used. If a railway ticket is purchased together with a reserved-seat ticket, the tickets can be purchased one month in advance.
Locations Where Tickets Are Available
[JR Group Stations]
In general, a railway ticket is sold at the station where the train will be boarded. If a ticket is purchased together with a reserved-seat ticket, the tickets can be purchased at any JR Group station.
[Major Travel Agencies]
Major travel agencies sell railway tickets for travel from any JR station.
